Spring Lake, MI--Help celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day at the Spring Lake District Library with a family Dr. Seuss Drawing Class, Thursday, March 1st at 6:00 p.m.  Local artist Corinne Roberts will be at the library teaching drawing techniques and strategies on how to
...more draw like the zany Dr. Seuss.  All ages are welcome but children under seven years need to be accompanied by an adult.  There will also be a drawing for Dr. Seuss books and movie tickets for The Lorax.  Pre-registration is not required.

Spring Lake, MI-The North Ottawa County Council on Aging is offering free tax preparation assistance for seniors at the Spring Lake District Library during the month of March. The Council on Aging partners with AARP to provide trained volunteers who can assist with basic state and federal tax
...more forms as well as Homestead Property and Home Heating tax credits. Appointments are required. Those wishing to schedule an appointment to meet with a volunteer at the library will need to call the North Ottawa County Council on Aging at (616) 842-9210.
The library also has Federal and State tax forms and instruction booklets for those who are filing their own tax returns.

SPRING LAKE TWP., Mich. (Grand Haven Tribune)- Firefighters were called to the report of a fire at Casting Technologies in Spring Lake Township shortly before 5 p.m. today.

Smoke was showing as firefighters arrived and the building was evacuated.

This program is free and open to the public.
Dr. Tucker, Associate Professor of English and African American Studies and teaches African American literature, African American Studies and American literature at GVSU. Her research activities include extensive study of several lesser known African American slave women who transgressed the social station dictated for them by 19th century social norms, seized their freedom, and made significant contributions to African American and American life in the 19th century.

West Michigan race promoter Charles Steen is making the rubber meet the road when it comes to determining if an auto racing event could be held in Grand Haven in the next several years.

...more planning a community design meeting for his proposed event. It will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Mackinaw Room of the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"It's the starting point as far as getting the community together and giving them the opportunity to give input on the downtown street circuit," he said.

During the meeting, the community will be able to hear from Steen about his plans, and also sit down and work in small groups to come up with different route ideas for the proposed race. It will be open to the public.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) - Ottawa County's top cop and prosecutor are both seeking another term in office.

Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema and Ottawa County Prosecutor Ronald Frantz announced their intent to seek re-election Tuesday morning.
