GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- We are getting our first glimpse of what the crane looked like as it fell onto the Kent County Jail earlier this month.

It happened February 10th when construction crews were working on a multi-million dollar renovation project.

Part of the 250-foot
...more crane can bee seen falling back onto the fleet garage, then the larger piece fell onto a section of new construction at the jail complex.

The initial investigation indicated that a cable snapped on the crane. Three people suffered minor injuries. Part of the jail's water line and the heating system were damaged. Several inmates had to be moved.

"We still have 170-200 inmates at other county jails. That will continue until the crane is removed or ensured that there is no other damage to existing facility and then to and look at the repairs thaT we're going to need to do, when we can bring inmates back", says Undersheriff John Hess.

Hess says that the majority of the

This past Saturday I, along with a guest of mine, attended a great concert at the Rockford High School Performing Arts Center and got to hear Mark Randisi, backed by the Johnny Trudell Big Band, for the first time.

Mark has been making his mark in keeping the music of Frank Sinatra
...more alive and he is doing a wonderful job of doing so. The music was magical and if you close your eyes, you might well think you are listening to Ole Blue Eyes himself. This is someone you will want to see if he is in our area again.

Rockford Area Museum sponsored this event as a fund raiser.

If last week’s Chipotle restaurant commercial during the Grammy Awards taught us anything, it was that there is beauty in the small and simple, but most of all, we should not be afraid to start over again.

This is also how I would describe the burgeoning
...more startup by craft brewers who just voted on the nameHigh Five Co-op Brewery, taking an important next step in their effort to launch Michigan’s first co-op brewery.

The name plays off many popular and uniquely Michigan components: the notion that it takes two hands to make a high five, thus playing off the teamwork aspects of a co-operative, or simply the hand shape that is definitely an image every resident of our state understands.

If the venture is successful, and I believe they will be based on their methodical steps thus far, Grand Rapids’ High Five Co-op Brewery will join...

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM ) -- Tuesday is Valentine's Day, the most romantic day of the according to some. And, for Sweetland Candies in Grand Rapids, it is the busiest time of the year as well.

John Naum, vice president of the store located at 5170 Plainfield NE, says the store will see
...more about 700 customers a day, starting two days before Valentine's Day.

Monday afternoon customers packed the store, some stopping by on their lunch break, others before work, to buy sweets for their sweetie. Naum says his customers really get into the spirit of the occasion.

"It is probably one of our prettiest holidays, all the red and heart shapes.. It is very, very festive and it is very romantic," he said.

Char Sweat is one of those customers. She stopped in to buy a chocolate covered pretzel for her husband of 15 years.

"Yeah, it's just to show each other that you love each other. I definitely think it is one of those holidays that you just focus on
