GREENVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - A one-month old infant died Thursday in Greenville, even after efforts of CPR by the child's father and emergency crews.
The Greenville Department of Public Safety was called to the home in the 300 block of W. Grove Street Thursday morning on reports of an...more infant not breathing. When they arrived they found the infant's father performing CPR while being coached by Montcalm County Dispatchers on the phone. Public Safety officers took over until Montcalm County EMS arrived and they continued life-saving efforts. The child was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains open pending the results of the autopsy and review by the Montcalm County Prosecutors office.

Applicants must be able to acquire a CDL Group C license with a passenger endorsement. GREENVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - He says he knew the company was struggling, but laid off United Solar Ovonic employee Stephen Perry says the company's bankruptcy announcement is still a surprise.
"It's a big shock," says Perry. "It's a big blow, I'm sure, for a lot of people."...more
Energy Conversion Devices, Inc., the Auburn Hills company that owns United Solar, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday. Executives say they have huge debt, a mountain of retirement obligations and too few customers buying solar energy panels.
"The company has been in a slow and steady downturn for a period of time," confirms United Solar Ovonic Grandville Plant Manager Tim Kelley.
When Electrolux moved their refrigerator factory to Mexico several years ago hopes were high United Solar would be the city's new economic anchor.
It has not worked out that way.
"It's very disappointing," says former State Representative Mike Huckleberry.
UPDATE AT 4:30 P.M. (WZZM) -- Executives with United Solar Ovonic and its parent company say years of debt are forcing them to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Uni-Solar and its parent, Energy Conversion Devices, each filed for bankruptcy Tuesday.
At one time,...more Uni-Solar employed more than 400 people in Greenville. Currently there are 70 people regularly working at the facility, but plant manager Tim Kelley expects the rest to be placed on furlough soon.
The Greenville plant has not been operational since November 6, and at least 100 workers are currently on "temporary but indefinite furlough."
Kelley says operations will be halted unless Uni-Solar's current production stock sells out or the company receives more orders for new stock.
