GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids police say a man is dead after being shot during a possible road rage incident. He has been identified as Lance Byers, an employee with Michigan's Department of Human Services.

Police say they're looking for a man and a woman who fled the area in a black Lincoln Navigator or similar large sport utility vehicle.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told WZZM 13 News he was stopped at the intersection when he saw people in the two cars arguing out on the street.

"They argued for a little bit until the guy in the black SUV started to get heated up and started getting in the guy's face and the guy in the silver car basically just pushed 'em away and then tried to turn around that's when we heard the gunshot."

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids will hold a Grand Opening Friday.

And people did not want to wait. They started lining up Thursday night and spent the night waiting to get in.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - Firefighters are battling a fire engulfing a home in the Marne area.

Ottawa County dispatchers say the house in the 12000 block of 14th Avenue was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived Tuesday morning.

Four fire departments helped

No one was injured, and no one was home when firefighters arrived.

COOPERSVILLE, Michigan (WZZM) - Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Wednesday morning. They're currently looking for two armed and masked suspects.

According to police a man wearing a ski-mask and armed with a hand-gun confronted an employee of the Family Fare in Coopersville as the man was leaving his home to go to work. 

The manager was forced into his own car and was taken to the store, where he was ordered to open the store's safe and give up the cash. The suspect was waiting outside.   

The employee was forced back into his vehicle, but was released a short time later after a second masked suspect drove up in a white pick-up truck and the two suspects drove away together.

They were last seen heading southbound on 68th Street in an older white pickup truck without a truck bed.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital plans to build a new building in order to expand and upgrade patient care.

KENTWOOD, Michigan (WZZM) - Kentwood Police are looking for two men who held up the 7-11 store on Breton south of 44th Street Monday night. The armed robbery happened about 7:45 pm Monday.

Kentwood Police Chief Mattice says two men went into the 7-11 store, showed a gun and demanded
...more money. They got away, on foot, with cigarettes.

Chief Mattice says one of the men was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The other wore a blue hooded sweatshirt. Both men wore gloves and bandanas.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A Grand Rapids man is facing charges for allegedly biting off a woman's nose Monday night. 

56-year old Stephen Medawis was charged Tuesday afternoon. It happened when he got into an arguement with an aquaintance, Polly Snyder, at a home on 5th Avenue. The top
...more part of Snyder's nose was bitten off. She ran to a party store next door and called police.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, Medawis has a lengthy criminal record.  Starting in 1977, he was convicted of  armed robbery and then assault. Most recently, he was convicted of drinking and driving, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and fleeing from police. He was released from prison in May of 2010.

The most recent charge is called "mayhem" and it carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. Because of his prior record, Medawis was also charged as an habitual offender. That brings the maximum penalty of up to life in prison.

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (WZZM) - ArtPrize organizers announced some changes for the 2012 event this morning.

ArtPrize 2012 will start on Saturday, September 19. The winners will be announced October 5 and the displays will continue through October 7th.

...more made in the prize money, including a $100,000 juried prize. There have been complaints in the past about the lack of art expertise in selecting the winners of ArtPrize.

The top prize in the voting section of ArtPrize will be $200,000. Second place will garner $75,000 and the third place winner will receive $50,000. The rest of the top ten finalists will receive $5,000 each.

ArtPrize is also extending the first round of voting from September 19 through September 30. This is longer than in past years, 11 days instead of 7 days. This will include two weekends for voters in the first round.
