Spring Lake, MI--Help celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day at the Spring Lake District Library with a family Dr. Seuss Drawing Class, Thursday, March 1st at 6:00 p.m.  Local artist Corinne Roberts will be at the library teaching drawing techniques and strategies on how to...more draw like the zany Dr. Seuss.  All ages are welcome but children under seven years need to be accompanied by an adult.  There will also be a drawing for Dr. Seuss books and movie tickets for The Lorax.  Pre-registration is not required.

Spring Lake, MI-The North Ottawa County Council on Aging is offering free tax preparation assistance for seniors at the Spring Lake District Library during the month of March. The Council on Aging partners with AARP to provide trained volunteers who can assist with basic state and federal tax...more forms as well as Homestead Property and Home Heating tax credits. Appointments are required. Those wishing to schedule an appointment to meet with a volunteer at the library will need to call the North Ottawa County Council on Aging at (616) 842-9210.
The library also has Federal and State tax forms and instruction booklets for those who are filing their own tax returns.

HOLLAND – A wide range of musical styles and instruments will bring DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids alive when Hope College presents its 24th annual Musical Showcase concert on Monday, March 5, at 8 p.m.

The hardest part for those seeing the show is containing their enthusiasm, at least at first. In the tradition of the quick-moving musical event, audience members are asked to hold their applause until intermission and the end of the performance.
The event will include the involvement of other areas of the arts in honor of President James Bultman, who is retiring at the end of the school year.  There will be a dance piece and musical theatre during the evening’s program, and art work by Hope students in the lobby.

Smoke was showing as firefighters arrived and the building was evacuated.
